On the 17th June 2026, we saw the graduation of the latest Beginner and Development bands. Under the expert tuition of Mr David Rose, over 20 members of the two bands progressed and graduated from their relevant levels of the 'Learn to Play Brass' method.

The graduation evening started with a few words from David, expressing his gratitude for all of the hard work each and everyone of his students had put in over the last year and an acknowledgement of the progress they had all made. David then said a few words about each player before presenting them with their graduation certificate (and goody bag).

The formalities concluded with the revealing of this year’s ‘Young Bandsperson of the Year’ award which went to Taras Tymchal.

They players of each band then got to know one another while having some pizza and squash.

The Development band have been together for two years and the Beginner group started in September 2025.

From September 2026, the two groups will join to become one larger band (a new name is currently being discussed). Some players will also have the opportunity to change instruments to allow a 'fuller' brass band compliment of players.

This new group will still welcome new members, but will no longer provide tuition for new starters.
