Performance Anxiety Workshop - Dr Roger Webster

Have a Blast in Towcester (HaBiT) Project


Towcester Studio Band is thrilled to be launching a new project, starting with a special workshop in The Bandhall, Towcester in October.

On the 31st October, Dr Roger Webster will present a Performance Anxiety Workshop and this session is aimed at performers of all levels and in all fields. Roger Webster will lead this session.

Roger is a senior lecturer at The Royal Northern College of Music where he conducts research in the area of psychotherapy, with special relevance to the needs of musicians. He also delivers lectures and consultations in the area of Performance Psychology drawing on the aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In recognition of his work at the RNCM, Roger has been awarded the title of Professor (personal Chair).


Roger’s playing career has been stellar – Principal Cornet for Black Dyke (1988-1993 and 2000-2005) and for Grimethorpe Colliery Band (2005 on and off until 2019). He has travelled the world as a soloist and released solo CDs as well as appearing as a soloist on very many more recordings with a variety of ensembles. Roger has also published a critically acclaimed book, ‘Webster’s PPP: Preparation, Practice, Performance’.

Have a Blast in Towcester is a community outreach project generously funded by Arts Council England. It will involve TSB, Foden’s Band and NMPAT and workshops/performances will take place at Towcester Studio Bandhall, Northampton School for Boys and Stowe School.


Activities will focus on introducing young players to brass banding; provision of workshops for brass/percussion players of all standards; a new commission to be worked on during workshops and be performed in the culminating concert.
