Farewell to a 'Fab' Four

We are approaching the time of year that many organisation dislike due to the fact that is it time to say farewell to talented youngsters that are heading to University! Towcester Studio Band is no different and it is with heavy heart that the members and committee wish this year’s crop of leavers all the very best for the next phase of their education.

Sadly we are losing four members this year and whilst they all try to come back when possible, their time with TSB during the next 3-5years will likely be restricted to holiday periods. This summer we were delighted to welcome back Will Wilkins and Andy Goldfinch who both helped out at a couple of events. Andy is now an established member and Eb bass player with Rothwell Temperance Band, based in the North, whilst Will is with Otterbourne Band in the South! Will plays Euphonium and Bb Bass and his versatility has been really useful at TSB.

Nicola Stevens is heading to Aston University, Birmingham to study Optometry, Rebecca Maclean will take on Psychology at Lincoln, David Foulger will be at Keele studying Creative Music and Tom Stoneman will be a student at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Both Nicola and Tom have been keen members of the Band’s committee for the past couple of years, with Nicola taking over as Secretary a year or so back and so we’ve had to have a ‘cabinet’ reshuffle as well! Whilst their priority will be their career path, Birmingham is not too far away and their commitment to TSB is such that I’m confident they will be back as much as they can. Rebecca and David have a bit further to travel but we look forward to seeing them all back in the Bandroom when time and travel permits.
