Kevin the Kiwi

Committee member Kevin Hawkins who is currently enjoying a holiday in New Zealand just cannot stay away from Brass Banding (actually took a mouthpeice with him!) sends us the following interesting report :

"Tonight I practiced with MBB in Blenheim, NZ. The band was founded in 1860 and is an A grade band in NZ. I contacted their MD Kevin Mosely, on the left in the picture, and Kevin invited me along and loaned me his cornet. On the right is his brother Graham who is principle cornet and has played in the UK. MBB has close links to Cory Band and in a few weeks will host the principle cornet of Cory, who will do a workshop and recital in Blenheim. A couple of the Band's youngsters have won the prestigious champion of champions solo award and have also played with Cory in UK. MBB own the band building which provides separate junior and senior band rooms as well as other dance studio's and a small bar. It was a very enjoyable experience and good to see that the band has a very strong youth section. That said I must mention David who plays 3rd cornet and has been a member for 70 years! "

'Towcester' Kevin is the handsome fellow in the middle !
